(see below) This top portion of the contract is written in the same handwriting as the new adopters handwriting. Camarattery did not fill out the form.
How Does Camarattery Fill Out An Adoption Form?
Vs How This Form Was Filled Out.
1) Of coarse Camarattery fills out the correct spelling of the rats type along with the names of the mother and father rat on the top portion of every contract.
a) This is not the case with this form.
2) Camarattery did place a black variegated down under with the adopter with no breeding rights for the down under gene.
a) We did not make an "exchange" for any other rats or products form below listed adopter. Camarattery does not do exchanges for adoptions of rats. And we don't write "exchange" on our forms.
3) Camarattery, always, always, always puts the exact date of the adoption on every contact as this is in direct relation to our health guarantee period that we offer.
a) Again this contract does not have that, this spot was avoided by the person who wrote it. Had we adopted this rat out the date would have been given.
4) Camarattery again always, always, always puts the name of the rats parents on the top of the form. This is in direct relation to what family the rat came from for future health updates on the line. And that is of utmost importance to us. A rat with no family means nothing to future referencing of the rat. We can't track that.
a) This was not done on this form
5) All rats that are
adopted out with breeding rights by Camarattery are sent home with an
adoption form filled out by us, with breeding rights. But never filled
out by the adopter, thus giving themselves breeding rights.
a) This was not done here either.
Camarattery still to this day has never adopted out a Down Under rat to another Colorado rat breeder with breeding rights. All Down Under rats with our pedigrees in this state are illegally bred, unless bred by us.
This supposed "proof" of a contract is really fool proof and a no brainier. Filling out your own contract for another breeder is never a legal document. It doesn't prove anything.
Actual Photo Of Said Problematic "Contract"

We did black out the "alleged" breeder signature, because of coarse if you post that sort of thing you can be taken to court. Thus we blacked out the adopters critical info to be mindful of that. Camarattery's Contract States: (exact copy of above contract)
All rats adopted from us with breeding rights must have written permission prior to pairing them! Not verbal, but written. This is detailed in our contract very specifically. This particular contract does not contain that information, since it is not a contract that we drafted. And that needed info cannot be provided because it does not exist. Big "Whoooops" on the part of the adopter (who did not have legal breeding rights).... Theoretically, had there been no contract at all the adopter could have gotten away with these breeding's, but since she produced the supposed contract, now #12 had to have been followed. But, in real life Camarattery never wrote up a contract for the rat to have breeding rights. At that time in the past we were bad about writing up contract to our fellow breeder friends, in real life the rat was adopted on a verbal contract. And in real life the adopter wanted the rat badly and we hesitated because we don't adopt our DU to local breeders, but after much debate the adopter offered not to breed Black Sheep for DU, and we agreed to her terms. And we never drafted a contract at all. But now this one pops up and we were the last to know about it. However after this incident, all of the local breeders we work with have contracts drafted by Camarattery for each and every breeder rat they have from us, and #12 of the contract is fulfilled in every breeding situation. I guess you live and you learn. So we have just become more efficient as a result.
Any breeding done with above Down Under (namely Cama Black Sheep DOB 5/24/07 NARR # 070280/M Registered by Camarattery as non breeder status) was not approved. So all of Camarattery's bases are covered as we did not approve of it and did not find out about this "copy" of "a" contract until 10/12/2009, since it was not something we drafted. Its really sad that a very un-solid form like this would be used to try to prove breeding rights. From now on of coarse we will not be posting a printable version of our contract on our site for just anyone to print and use by what ever means they deem necessary.
In Conclusion
As a breeder who believes in honesty and keeping a well trusted community, Camarattery feels very sad about this situation. This way we don't just say we run our rattery on honesty and integrity, we actually do it. So it is up to all of the Colorado rat people to show the community how we can shine and be trusted. It is our actions that really prove who we are. Let us prove we are trustworthy. While
we could not be happier about this documentation (provided by the adopter), proving our rights and
providing poof that this rat is indeed not breedable, it is sad that he
was bred and has several generations of grandchildren (who have even been shipped to other breeders in the US and Checz Republic). But we did have
our bases covered by a strong contract! And now everyone can see this too! Sorry we had to post this, but someone felt as though they can do what they please and post that Camarattery was somehow at fault for not knowing about a contract that we did not write up.
Breeding rats is not a competition, its not done for clout. Its to better the rat, and breeding with out a contract "from the breeder" just to get a head or to get something you didn't have the right to have, only hurts the rat. And it makes our community look bad. Colorado was doing well with bettering our reputation for the past 3 years as we really turned things around. We have better ways of helping the rat, like getting real breeding rights or doing the work ourselves. Not capitalizing on others work just to get ahead so we can say we have something. Are we really proving to the world that we have clout because we have a certain pattern of rodent that is found all over the world? Just go get your own. Its easier.
Camarattery was doing something nice for the adopter as a gesture of thanking her. The adopter watched our female rats and this litter while I had a broken leg at the time and could not care for them. So we gave her a down under with no breeding rights because she really wanted to say that she had one at one time. As reluctant as we were since we don't adopt our Du to other Co breeders the adopter convinced me that this rat would never be bred for DU. And after going back and forth about it for weeks we proceeded to adopt the rat to her, since she had offered not to breed and we agreed to this. So the rat was gifted to her. And this is how we are repaid for our kindness. How sad. So from now on we will not "gift" or adopt out any rats to breeders that they are not allowed to breed, considering they have the complete capability to breed the rat anyway. So that will now be a change to our policy.
Also we want to mention because of things like this we have contracted all out of state breeders that we have sent out lines to, that they cannot allow any of our lines to come back to any other Colorado breeder. So any of our Down Under rats or any other Cama rats that are out there cannot legally return to this state, unless they are coming back to Camarattery. This has been on our contract since the very 1st time we shipped out rats.
Remember what ever you do in life will come back around again. Some say its Karma some believe its the Golden Rule. Either way ethics play a valuable role in breeding for the betterment of the animal.
This information was posted here so that any breeder who has these rats in their pedigrees, knows the full story and the whole situation as it happened. Its not posted to ruin any reputations. The breeders who may have received descendants of Cama Black Sheep are not at fault. They were drug into a bad situation too and its very unfortunate for them.
10/15/2009 NARR Update To This Information And Justification For Camarattery
I Since I adopted the rat as non breeder status for DU and the rat was bred for it anyway, I registered the rat on NARR as non breeding status to protect my contract. This was when the rat was a baby 2 years ago... Apparently at that particular time NARR's rules stated that the children of a non breeder status rat cannot be registered. This this rule left a loophole and the further generations could be registered. Because of the situation here in CO and others like it NARR has seen how this needed to be corrected to protect all involved. In regards to this change and the loophole no longer being available NARR has emailed us about our situation with Cama Black Sheep (an exact copy and past of the NARR email to us): So now I need to post this page here because everyone has to ask me for approval to breed & register any future generations of this family.
"For those rats that received a registration number,
they will remain in the database. However, no more descendants with Black Sheep
in the pedigree will be given registration in NARR. That is not to say that they
would be removed from the database, but since the loophole has since closed, it
is no longer valid for further generations of this pet only rat to get into the
database as breedable rats. There are two other things that need to be said
though. I will leave an exception possibility here since other ratteries are
involved and may very well have valid breeding plans that you may have otherwise
not disapproved of had it not gone through this way. If the ratteries having
those rats currently in the database should choose to proceed with breeding
these offspring, and are interested in registration, they may ask your
permission to breed that rat. That would be solely at your discretion based on
any criteria you see fit (pairing choices, stipulations, etc). If you should
choose to grant permission on one of these rats, that line will be allowed to
continue as breedable rather than pet only."
