Looks like the patterns are coming in on my blazed litter. 2 are blazed! This will be a great foundation to my line.

8/14
My 1st litter of Cama bred blazed rats born in my rattery in 3 years came today!

8/12
This is my last day off for the summer. I have to go back to school tomorrow and get everything ready for the kids. So if you are emailing me during school hours, I will answer your email after I get home.

8/8/08
I have made some changes to my links and rat help page as well as my about Camarattery page. So those pages have been updated. Some things have been removed...

7/30
I have posted all of my brand new litters on my litter plans page. If you are looking for a new baby please check out those and my litters posted in the Nursery.

Rag & Bone had litter complications and did not give me the blazed babies I was looking forward to! She is ok, but there will not be a litter. :(

I lost my sole mate (my doggie sole mate) on July 4th, my Ralfie. It was difficult to wake to a lost love who died in his sleep with no warning. I will always love him and never forget him although the pain has not lessened as the days have passed, those of you that knew him knew how I felt. Aside from my husband and son, he was the best thing that had ever happened to me. I still cannot bear looking at his picture, so I will not post on here. Its just to soon.

REMEMBER ME

Remember me always, but do not grieve for me too long.

I have tried always to comfort you in times of sorrow…

And made every effort to add joy to your life

I never wanted to cause you pain.

Peace for me is certain now: and I suspect I will have eternal

“Sleep in the earth” I have loved so well.

Please, after your time of grieving for me, make room for another.

You are the human being who should always have a friend to love;

Your kind and gentle heart should not be bound to my

Memory for too long. Give your love to another.
I know your new friend will never take my place…

Because we had something very special.

It may not be quite the same,

But a new devoted and loving companion will, in time,

Become your special one.

You loved me very much and I loved you.

My heart will be with you…no matter how deep my sleep.

I have put almost half of my rattery up for adoption to make room for the new blood. My rattery was small before but now its very small! I went from 23 dwarf to 12 and 45 standards to 35. Now that I have my lines where they need to be I can stop having all the extra patterns that were a by-product of the out crossing of my lines.

I have focused on my 2 specialties, hooded and self for so long that I can now relax and be happy they they are where they need to be. I have been so serious and focused on only breeding self to self and hooded to hooded for generation after generation and locking that in, that I can finally play. I have not played on 4 years. I have been so strict on every litter, making sure that they were just so. I have colors, I have fur types, but I have always had only 2 types that I breed. So now I am finally letting down my hair and playing with marked rats. This will be my side project and my toy if you will. And I am thinking that the breeding of blazed rats will in fact be due on the 31st. As mentioned before they are all reserved, but they are on their way. I'll update more as I take pix and have more to post about. I have just been so busy since it's my summer break and I have been playing with my son and my rats all day.

On another note I will be adding more to the adoption page as the days go by, my goal was to have all dumbos by 2009. So I only have 5 more months to do that. So I will be very aggressive about getting that done. So my motto for the rest of the year is: "One less standard ear is one rat closer to all dumbo!"

7/13

I have updated the nursery and posted pictures of the 4 week old litters.

7/9
I have some hairless babies available for those of you who have been looking for that perfect pink piggie. Since I am the only hairless breeder in Colorado I know it's at times a bit of a wait but they are finally here! Those litters are posted in the nursery.

6/27
I have removed many links off of my navigation bar to simplify, if you are looking for those pages they are now located on my "Links & Rat Help" page. This way there isn't too much to weed through to find what you need.

F.Y.I Some crazy rat breeder got a hold of my site and turned it a girly purple color! Twasn't me! I am anti-pastel.

I also have new blazes in my rattery! I haven't posted much about them on the site, but my 1st litter is due on the 31st. The 1st litter has been long awaited by many adopters and all reserved, it will be a small litter as it is from Dwarf dumbo lines. Right now they are blue, Agouti and black. I had many adopters asking for blazes since they have not been able find a breeder for them here in Colorado in years. I now have some lines are are free of any known health issues that I am very happy to be working with! They are also very long lived! They have been worked with by well known breeders dating back ten years. So the health history is very well documented and traceable on NARR. It took me years of searching to find the perfect lines that I wanted to ship in! My 1st litter is due on the 31st and already reserved. But I will be keeping what I need for the next generation of breeding plans.

6/26
I have updated all of my pictures so that they are adult pix.

6/19
I have upgraded my entire website, most changes are not noticeable. But they are there to make my site easier to find and review. For one thing my site address or domain is finally working. So when you type www.Camarattery.com and navigate through the site you will now see Camarattery.com/"the page name". This will make it easier for you to remember my address and it looks more professional. I am also upgraded my email address. However, if you still have my old yahoo address in your address books, it still works, I will not delete that account. Camarattery has outgrown its old less professional looking hot mail account. My new email address is ColoradoRatBreeder@camarattery.com
.

6/17
Lets see. I have been playing with my site. I have updated My Rattery page, My other animals page and of coarse my Nursery page. The spring litters are here so I am happy about that. I will finally have more babies to offer you since all my time off in the last 3 months!

6/9
I am so happy to say that I only have 12 rats that do not carry the dumbo gene right now. I am getting ever so close to having all dumbo's in my rattery! Soon all the standard no frills ears will be all gone...

I have a couple of mommies showing right now. So I will have new babies soon! Please let me know if you are on the hunt for new babies! I will have them in about a week from now. All will be dumbo and cute! The babies will be one self litter of all black and agouti babies. The second litter will be self and Irish, possible Berkshires, colors of black, Burmese, Siamese and possible mink. Like mentioned all will be dumbo. If anyone is on my wait list I will take care of you 1st, but there is plenty of room for those of you not on my list as I expect decent sized litters.

I wanted to take a minute to post about something that is very saddening to me. I had adopted 2 rats to a breeder under a non breeding contract and that was not followed. 1 rat Cama Black Sheep a hooded down under was put under strict contract not to be bred for down under and I registered him with NARR with NO breeding rights. He has been bred. I posted about this below at the 1st of the year. At that point the breeder removed my prefix from his name and his pedigree off of her site because she was guilty. She then planned to breed him 2 times and has done at least one of those breedings and the babies are almost 2 weeks old, DOB apparently is 5/28/2008. I want to remind you that they are illegally bred!

The second rat is Cama Back In Black. He was put under strict contract not to be bred for dwarf to this same rattery. He was bred just for dwarf and these illegal dwarf babies are posted to this breeders site, there are now 2 generations from him at this rattery, his children and grandchildren. I want to remind all of you that if you see these rats on any websites, this is a sad and illegal situation.

When I contract my rats, and in this case it was by the preference of this breeder that I contract her in this way... I expect that to be followed. Either by written or verbal contract. And either asking to breed the rats after you already have done it or not asking when contracted not to breed them is not honest. From a breeders perspective contracting is the safest way to make sure your rats are handled properly and the way you the breeder see's fit. And when another breeder cannot follow a contract that is really sad. To break contract just to cut corners and get fast results without the hard work does not benefit the animals involved in any way. It just displays dishonesty. And it's very bad Karma if you believe such a thing.

If you see my 2 rats in any pedigrees, these are ILLEGAL breedings! These rats do not have the right to have been bred! Keep your eye out! I am not asking to much for any contracts or agreements to be followed. I am not a tyrant for thinking such a thing is bad. But I also will not sit there and watch these things go one right in front of me and say nothing.

Once I had posted about their breeding status in January and these rats were bred anyway, by this breeder posting certain babies from them is an effort and public display to make me look bad. When in fact the breeder who broke contract is in the wrong. And although I am not the revengeful sort, everyone should know what the situation is. As long as the breeder does the right thing and desists breeding my 2 family's of rats illegally like is happening right now, that will be the right and honest thing to do. This breeder actually asked me not to post anything on my site months ago when I approached her about the dishonest breeding of my dwarf (she said she wouldn't post anything either), well to post his litters and me just sit here and say nothing is not right. I am saying something now. Asking me not to say anything so you can get ahead and still adopt out the illegal babies you have bred and posted is not ok.

If the pedigrees on a certain site get shortened so that my rats are no longer posted there I will post the family members of that line after my rat's disappearance in the pedigrees so that the public knows what to watch for. This way we are all on the same page.

5/23
I am just wrapping up my May breedings and making sure the females I bred took before my normal scheduled month off from breeding in June. If all goes well and I know it will, I will have a wonderful variety of babies available for you coming up here shortly.

I will be out of school for the summer starting March 29th. So that will be perfect for my month off from putting pairs together. This way I can just play, play, play with all of them! My son and I will be able to have tons of fun with the rats during summer break!

I will be adopting out several young adults who are already on my adoptions page. I am making sure all my cages are spacious and never crowded. So please contact me to adopt one of my very well socialized youngsters!

Colorado's very 1st born real genetic Satins were born this week here at my rattery! This is very exciting! It has taken me a long time to achieve this and a drive out of state 5 months ago to get the breeding stock. And now that the parents are finally breeding age I have a litter!  The baby Satins from this litter will stay here to make more for next time.

Satins are many times mistaken for rats who are not genetic Satins nor do they carry the gene. They are just shiny rats. Many who breed Rex mistake shiny Rex for Satin and they are not actual Satins. I have had those myself. All they are is a good quality coat but not a recessive Satin. Mine are genetic recessive Satins. All Satins are very heavily pedigreed and not in unknown stock at this time. There are not many of Satins in the rat community right now. The only way to say you have a Satin is to have a pedigree proving it. And in that pedigree they will not pop up out of no where, it is recessive so both parents have to at least carry the gene.

Here is an example of a Shiny rat that is a Rex, it is not a Satin. Just because the hair shines does not make it a Satin! This rat is one of my double Rex's.

(My double Rex do not loose their hair, they have more of it!)

I have been battling with having both US and UK mink in my rattery since 2006. The problem is that they look exactly the same but are not genetically compatible, and I don't know which mink base I have and breeding 2 minks together produces all blacks. So it can be a head ache. It's been tough trying to weed out the one I don't want (UK) and trying to figure out what I know is the keeper color.

Well today my fight is over! It took 4 test breedings (this month.. several in 2007) by myself and an out of state breeder to find my problem but we did it! There was confusion on what my dwarf line throws vs what the new RRLM rats are. The answer is that the dwarfs are UK based and not compatible to the proven US minks and the RRLM rats are US compatible. I am so relieved that every one of my lines has now been tested and proven to what mink base it is!

So I am breathing a huge sigh of relief! I will re update my site to reflect what I now know to be the truth about what mink base I am working with, and now I can weed out the UK and do away with it. This will make things much easier for me from her out. Now I don't have to spend my time waisting time!

Colorado's 1st Dwarf X Dwarf litter was born today! I have a beautiful litter of very small, fat and healthy dwarf babies.

3/31
I am back! And thanks to one of the club members for raising my litters for me at her house while I was healing! She did a great job, the babies are very well socialized, happy and clean! It couldn't have worked out better! That was s HUGE help!

Thanks to another member for feeding my ponies on Pony Island! They are all clean and well fed too!

The rattery is up and running again and babies are getting ready to go home. So please contact me to come get yours! I also have available babies that can be placed with approved adopters.

3/21
I have posted a new litter, it is a very exciting one for Colorado! Thanks to Ratz Realm Rattery for making this litter possible! This is Colorado's very 1st litter of hairless dumbo dwarf rats! Here is the link:
http://www.camarattery.com/rrlmastroxrrlmcold.htm
Now that we finally have a wonderful foundation to our dwarf hairless in the state it will not be a problem to make more! I already have a wonderful assortment of hairless carriers to breed them to! I have 10 hairless or hairless carriers to make that possible, they are all dumbo of coarse! So I am well on my way to having lots of pink piggies like everyone loves and has been asking for.

3/16
I have been very sick for 16 months and I just got out of the hospital. I had a very major surgery on 3/5. I am feeling better and I will be on bed rest for several weeks. So please be patient with me and know that as soon as I am up and around I will getting back to normal, and thinking more clearly. Until then please email me with any needs you have and I will get back with you. I have the computer with me and I can email you right away. I should be available for a couple of short periods of time starting 3/22.

3/1
I will not be available from March 5th to April 2nd. I do have litters being raised that will be available when I am back. If you would like to get on my wait list please email me and I will get back with you asap.

2/18
AFRMA has finally recognized the Wheaten Burmese as a color! So now they can be shown the propper class! But they have called them Agouti Burmese since genetically that is what they are so I have updated my site to reflect that name change. Here is the AFRMA standard for the color:

AGOUTI BURMESE - Body color to be a warm brown, not too dark or too red, similar to Cinnamon, with a light gray-brown at the base of the hair. Coat is evenly ticked with medium brown guard hairs. Belly color to be light silvery brown.
Points to be distinctly darker than body color with shading at the base of the tail. Eyes black.
To be shown only in AOCP class. (Agouti plus Burmese).

2/17
OK I finally updated pictures of some of my babies. I also had a couple of females I had never posted to my site because I either forgot or didn't have time to take pictures even though they are listed in my past litters pages. I don't want to hide any rats so the pictures are up. So you can see every rat I have in my rattery.

I have been working on my Self rats for a bit lately so they are looking stunning. So now I will work on my hooded rats to get them were I need them to be. I could use a little variety in my litters. I need to get going on putting the dumbo gene into the hooded rats finally so I will get to working on that.

2/3
OK I finally have enough dwarf rats of my own to start adopting them out! When I brought Colorado's 1st dwarf rat to Colorado in may of 2006 it has been a long haul, but I finally have a good number of dwarf rats to start adopting some out now. I have a colony of 18 now! Wow that took a lot of time and patience!

I will also be breeding them and adopting them out after their 1st litter like I do with my standard rats. The reason I do this is because my goal is to make each generation better then their parents, so there is no reason to keep working them and breeding them. All I need is one litter and then they can retire. I keep in VERY close contact with all of my adopters so I know what the health of all of my retired breeders is. All of the adopters who get my adults are not novice rat owners, and know what they are looking at with rat health so they can report anything to me as my adults age.

So you will start to see my dwarf rats on the adoptions page in a matter of a month or so. If you want to get on my wait list please do so now.

It still may be a few more litters before I adopt out dwarf dumbos because I am working on switching all of my rats including my dwarf to dumbo, so I need the stock for my own breeding program. But I will have standard eared dwarfs available from now on. Also I now have Rex bred into my dwarf rats, so you will start to see those now too.

1/18
The dwarf breedings are going very well. I have gotten more dwarfs this time around than I had in the 1st place. I also did well with getting more dumbo dwarfs and one Rex dwarf. So I have just about everything I need to get this thing off and running for Colorado. I have been very pleasantly surprised with everything I asked for! My rats have been very good to me this time!

I have also been adopting out a few standard rats here and there and replacing them with compatible dwarf rats. This makes a lot more room in my cages and keeps my cages cleaner. That is one thing I am enjoying about the dwarf rats is that they potty less!

1/9
I will be going down my wait list reserving babies from 2 of my litters this weekend. These will be the One Piece At A time X Russian Surprise and also the Blue Dress X Black Rain litters. They are finally old enough to reserve. When I contact you to pick a baby please let me know ASAP so I can get you the baby you really wanted.

1/4
I had 2 litters born today! These are my 1st litters of the year. So I have lots of beautiful, healthy babies to offer you. There are also litters posted in my nursery. Please contact me to reserve your babies!

Cama Back In Black & Cama Black Sheep are now officially registered with NARR with a non breeding status. This is per my verbal contract limiting the way in which they can be bred.

Update: I didn't catch Back In Blacks registration in time and he is not registered with NARR as unbreedable, his papers went through before I caught it, but he is contracted as non breedable. Not that this makes a difference since he cannot be bred as per the agreements myself and the adopting breeder have made.

1/1/2008
February of 2008 to Feb of 2009 is the year of the rat! Yay the rats need some recognition! The year of the rat does not start in January because the Chinese calendar does not coincide with the newer calendar we use today. So starting in February lets celebrate our rats!

And That's The News!
