ACRE is now a non profit organization registered with the state of Colorado. We are dedicated to the betterment of the fancy rat through ethical and responsible breeding, and by encouraging proper rat care and ownership at home. ACRE became an American Fancy Rat and Mouse Association (AFRMA) affiliate in June of 2008.

I have been working with her for almost 3 years so I can fully trust her.--- We are a small hobby breeder of pet rats located in Colorado Springs, Co. Our main focus is to breed for good health, longevity, and great temperaments. Then comes type/confirmation and lastly color & markings. We specialize in: Black Eyed Siamese, Burmese & Agouti (Wheaten) Burmese, Russian Blue, American Blue, Dumbo Ears, standard coat & Rex . These are our main focus, but as color does not come before temperament, health and life span, we will have other colors and standard ears pop up in our litters from time to time.

We do not support superstores, and we do not feel the need to go anywhere else although we know there are other great small mom and pop shops to go to as well, and we do recommend them. An animals environment must be disinfected, not just cleaned. Germs need to be killed. But some products are not safe for animals. These are!

Healthy food that we reccomend. Please do not try to surf through their site looking for Harlan. The site is not that efficient. Just directly email them about food. they are very good about getting back to you ASAP.

• Harlan Teklad's Distributor www.coldbloods.com/ www.coldbloods.com/ Harlan blocks are the most balanced diet you can feed your rat. And they are terribly easy to get. Harlan subcontracts them out to a distributor that will ship to anyone in the world. Just email them and order. They will have it to you within 4 days. This is what Camarattery feeds our rats. Cages we recommend. Please always remember to look at bar spacing when shopping for a cage for your rat. They must have 1/2 spacing. No larger. Also never ever put your rat in a cage with plastic parts! Especially levels and cage bottoms. They will only last a few weeks. Only use full metal caging!!! That is a must with the rat species!!!

Camarattery recommends buying these for your rats, but they are bulky and heavy. Warning: Do not purchase the tank toppers and glass aquariums. Those are better for nursery babies not adults. They are tiny and trap ammonia moisture for rats that are too big for the cage. They do not allow for the rats to climb.

We have 3 of the doubles. They weigh 110 lbs and do not fit in the tub! Make sure you can accommodate their cleaning needs.

Anyone that has an interest in rats or mice can be a member. The main purpose of AFRMA is to promote and encourage the breeding and exhibition of fancy rats and mice for show and pets. We also educate the public on their positive qualities as companion animals and provide information on their proper care. Competition shows are currently held 6 times a year throughout Southern California. AFRMA is the mother cub to ACRE our Colorado club.
