The Colorado Rat List
pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/ColoradoRatList/
This forum is for discussion of the fancy rat. Topics are about breeding, diets, agility and how to keep a happy healthy rat etc... The groups breeders are from all over the world and any question you have should get a quick and educated answer! This group was formed to educate rat owners and mentor new breeders in the area. The group is here to build support for the fancy rat as well as create rat events and rat shows in our community. |

Association of Colorado Rat Enthusiasts
www.acrecoloradoratclub.org/
The Association of Colorado Rat Enthusiasts (ACRE) was founded in 2006 and has been gaining support ever since, at that time it was a simple Colorado based forum. ACRE is now a non profit organization registered with the state of Colorado. We are dedicated to the betterment of the fancy rat through ethical and responsible breeding, and by encouraging proper rat care and ownership at home. ACRE became an American Fancy Rat and Mouse Association (AFRMA) affiliate in June of 2008. |
Here are other local Colorado rat breeders that we can highly recommended adopting from. Breeders listed here are in good standing with the Colorado rat community and The Association of Colorado Rat Enthusiasts. Breeders listed here are ones that we know are trust worthy. So we feel comfortable recommending them. Breeders listed here do not sell to pet shops, or breed pet shop or mill rats or buy rats from pet expos or swap meets. They share the same high standards & ethics of breeding as we do.

Hidden Haven Rattery (H2R)
www.hiddenhavenrattery.com/
Another Colorado rattery. We highly recommend adopting from this rattery! I have been working with her for almost 3 years so I can fully trust her.--- We are a small hobby breeder of pet rats located in Colorado Springs, Co. Our main focus is to breed for good health, longevity, and great temperaments. Then comes type/confirmation and lastly color & markings. We specialize in: Black Eyed Siamese, Burmese & Agouti (Wheaten) Burmese, Russian Blue, American Blue, Dumbo Ears, standard coat & Rex . These are our main focus, but as color does not come before temperament, health and life span, we will have other colors and standard ears pop up in our litters from time to time. |

Bodleian Litterattery (ISBN)
litterattery.blogspot.com/p/chapter-2-about-me.html
Beige & Fawn Dumbo's. Specializing in health, temperament, type and larger sizes! Also years of experience doing agility. Located in Denver Colorado. |
Rat supplies that Camarattery recommends. Here at Camarattery we only go to these listed places for our rat supplies. We do not support superstores, and we do not feel the need to go anywhere else although we know there are other great small mom and pop shops to go to as well, and we do recommend them. The listed resources cover our needs here at the rattery 100%.

Rat Happy
www.rathappy.com
Colorado's place to go for hammocks and rat slings! Rat happy makes the hammocks for Camarattery! We just love them and so do our adopters! |
An animals environment must be disinfected, not just cleaned. Germs need to be killed. But some products are not safe for animals. These are!

|
Pet Focus Cleaner
www.parrot-and-conure-world.com/pet-focus-cleanser.html
Disinfectant & cleaner. Animal safe. I used it for years. |
Healthy food that we reccomend. Please do not try to surf through their site looking for Harlan. The site is not that efficient. Just directly email them about food. they are very good about getting back to you ASAP.
|
|
Harlan Teklad's Distributor
www.coldbloods.com/
Harlan blocks are the most balanced diet you can feed your rat. And they are terribly easy to get. Harlan subcontracts them out to a distributor that will ship to anyone in the world. Just email them and order. They will have it to you within 4 days. This is what Camarattery feeds our rats. Please see our diets page for more info. |
Cages we recommend. Please always remember to look at bar spacing when shopping for a cage for your rat. They must have 1/2 spacing. No larger. Also never ever put your rat in a cage with plastic parts! Especially levels and cage bottoms. They will only last a few weeks. Only use full metal caging!!! That is a must with the rat species!!!
|
|
Martins Cages
www.martinscages.com/products/cages/rat/
Rat cages by Martins. Camarattery recommends buying these for your rats, but they are bulky and heavy. Warning: Do not purchase the tank toppers and glass aquariums. Those are better for nursery babies not adults. They are tiny and trap ammonia moisture for rats that are too big for the cage. They do not allow for the rats to climb. |

Critter Nation
www.ferret.com/item/critter-nation-double-unit-with-stand-36lx24wx63h/
This is what we use in our rattery. We have 3 of the doubles. They weigh 110 lbs and do not fit in the tub! Make sure you can accommodate their cleaning needs. |

|
Prevue Hendrix Rat Cage
www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=20003
Drs Foster Smith. Spacious, all-metal cage is the ideal home for any rat or chinchilla. This safe and durable small pet cage features 1/4" bar spacing along with two metal shelves and two solid metal ramps. Rolling casters make moving this cage easy. 20-1/2" x 31" x 39-1/2" high. |

|
Quality Cage Company
www.qualitycage.com/
These seem like good cages. They are pricy for what they sell, as the wire mesh they use is very cheap to purchase but this company charges a lot for it. Also the site loads slow. |
Sites that greatly help you to research rats, genetics, health, and care. Camarattery frequently uses these sites.
