Why a contract?
All Breeders should have a contract that
covers all the basics. A contract should never be short and or leave
room for animal abuse by the buyer. Contracts should all include a
basic guarantee & animal return policy & animal care guide
included with it. This is how I know the new owner genuinely cares
about the animals. Short contracts leave to much room for unacceptable
animal handling practices. The law does not require any thing to be
added or not included in a contract so breeders need to cover
everything to keep their animals safe. I for one am not an overly
strict breeder when it comes to my contracts. But I am cautious and
only add what I need to in order to give my sweeties a great home.
That's one reason I don't charge extra fees (unless you get rats for
breeding purposes). I know it is up to me to interview a potential
buyer and make sure they are a fit animal owner. All I need is a well
rounded contract, no added fees. But I feel it important to post my
contracts for you to review and think about and to apporve of. I will
ask of all my buyers that you read my contract before you even come see
the animals. This way you know if what you are signing is acceptable to
you.
